Q. What is the LPI 117-201 exam?
A. The Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) is a certification in the field of Linux. Each LPIC level requires successful completion of two exams for certification. The LPI certification program is designed to certify the competency of system administration using the Linux operating system and its associated tools. It is designed to be distribution neutral, following the Linux Standard Base and other relevant standards and conventions. The LPI 117-201 certification is the first of two Advance-level system administrator certification exams offered by the Linux Professional Institute (LPI). The 117-201 exam is designed to test the basic knowledge of a candidate on the Linux kernel, system startup, filesystem, hardware configuration, system maintenance, etc.

A. No prerequisites

Q. What credit does the LPI 117-201 exam provide?
A. LPI 117-201 exam is the basic exam of the Advance Level LPI certification. It is required to pass the following certification exams:

How to prepare for the 117-101 exam.

The L117-101 exam is designed to test the basic knowledge of an examinee about various hardware, their configuration and installation, his understanding of the Linux operating system, and of installing and configuring various Linux utility packages. Before taking the L117-101 exam, you should practice the following:

Robert G. Freeman

Robert G. Freeman is a Principal Engineer and Database Team Manager at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. He has been working with Oracle Databases for almost two decades. Robert is the author of several books including Oracle Database 10g RMAN Backup and Recovery and Oracle Database 11g New Features. Robert is an Oracle ACE, and is currently the only residing ACE in the state of Utah, USA.
